Before the bronze edition there was this elk, built up patch by patch from welded steel in Russ’s Bellevue studio. It is the original from which the bronze edition’s molds were taken, and a one-of-a-kind work in its own right.
The steel original was finished with a heat patina in the fall of 2025 and stands at a private residence in Coeur d’Alene.
